We are seeking an experienced Teacher of Science looking to make the next step in their career, or an experienced middle leader looking for a new challenge... The School is a large, mixed all-through School located close to the Cathedral City centre of Chichester. It sits in stunning grounds, on the site of an old Convent and boasts state-of-the-art facilities. The Science department is made up of a number of experienced Staff, and has a strong reputation in the area, having achieved good grades at GCSE year on year. Within the Department you would be responsible for the line management of all members of the Science teaching team, as well as devising schemes of work and reporting. Whilst you will have a reduced timetable reflecting your responsibilities as Department Lead you would be responsible for your own classes at KS3 and 4, including planning and delivering engaging lessons to mixed ability Students. The School and Department seek an individual able to contribute to its journey 'Outstanding', strong leadership of the Science Department is an integral part of this. As a Science specialist at the School you should be able to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics to KS3, with the ability to teach at least one specialism to KS4 and/or 5.
The Department is currently lead by its established and highly skilled Head of Department, supported by key stage leaders, and the Senior Leadership Team. This is an open vacancy in the Department due to relocation. Science labs at the School are fully equipped with a wealth of resources, and technical support. Recently graded 'Good' by Ofsted, the School enjoys strong leadership from its newly appointed Head Teacher. The School is an enjoyable and rewarding place to work, that values the nuturing of Students and Staff.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the future success of the Department and the School more widely, and as a result, will enjoy industry leading CPD and opportunities to upskill or progress. You must align yourself to the School ethos focusing on Student and Staff wellbeing, and Student attainment. The successful Candidate must:
- Be educated to at least Degree level, with Qualified Teacher Status or comparative Overseas Teacher Training
- Have be a able to demonstrate a strong record of results, and experience of, or a flair for leadership
- Be an inspiring educator, passionate about Science teaching, with the ability to enthuse others
- Have proof of right to work in the UK, a UK/EU Passport or valid Biometric Residence Permit
