Join the Science department of a secondary academy known for its welcoming staff community and strong behaviour management.

  • Full-time Science teacher.
  • To start from Easter 2020 or earlier.
  • Paid to scale point (GBP24,373 - GBP40,490).
  • Supporting pupils aged 11-16.
  • Secondary academy based in Bury with excellent links to transport.

The secondary academy has been recently refurbished with a new Science department including modern facilities, equipment and laboratories. The academy is known for its consistent climb in performance tables alongside a recent track record of excellent GCSE results. The academy also has interactive whiteboards in many of the classrooms with access to either a laptop or computer for members of staff.

The incoming Science teacher will be expected to:

  • Teach a full timetable across Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver differentiated Science lessons for students at varying levels of learning ability.
  • Set relevant homework tasks and mark these in line with the school curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress and to take appropriate action where required.

Both newly qualified and experienced teachers are welcome to apply to this role as an induction and support will be provided. The incoming teacher must have QTS and a subject specialism within a relevant Science. Any experience with SEN or learning difficulties will be transferrable for this role however, all support will be provided.

Our client secondary academy is based in Bury with around 800 pupils in attendance. The school can be accessed via the M62 and A58 for candidates with their own transport from surrounding areas of Greater Manchester. For candidates on public transport, the academy has excellent links being close to the town centre of Bury. The academy can be accessed from areas such as Bolton, Prestwich and Whitefield via public transport.
