ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A NEW CHALLENGE IN YOUR CAREER? DO YOU HAVE A PASSION TO WORK WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS?
Teaching Personnel are currently seeking Student Support Assistants in the Andover area to work in a SEN specialist school catering to pupils with complex learning needs. The needs of attending pupils are varied, but may include:
- Autism and ADHD
- Speech and language difficulties
- Anti-social and disengaged behaviour
- Sensory and emotional needs
The Role:
Applicants will be assisting teachers and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils, as well as in groups. You will be supporting learning and development within class, as well as in the student's residential homes where you would be assisting with daily activities. The hours are on a rotational basis with morning and evening shifts and a requirement to work every other weekend. For continuity purposes, you must be able to work to a rota.
The Candidate:
In order to be considered, candidates will need to have a minimum of GCSE grades A-C in Maths and English. Ideal applicants should have previous experience working with special educational needs professionally. Without professional experience any personal experience with the following could help you to succeed in this role:
- Youth/Community work experience
- Care worker
- Challenging behaviour within family
- Mentoring
- SEN Experience
You should have a passion for working with children and have a positive and bubbly attitude. You will need to be able to use your initiative and not be afraid to get involved in any activities.
Teaching Personnel do offer many development courses through our CPD Academy; such as Autism Awareness, Safeguarding and Team Teach to help support any successful candidates within this environment.
If you're suited to this role, please contact Candice, Hampshire SEN Recruitment Consultant on the details provided (02380836648) or apply by sending your CV and a brief cover letter.
