Autism Spectrum Condition Support needed for 1:1 role within a Cardiff Secondary School ASC Unit.

  • ASC specialist support assistant
  • 4 Days per week Mon-Thurs
  • Temporary-Permanent Contract
  • Opportunity to work within a specialist facility attached to a mainstream Secondary school

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a large Secondary school in Cardiff who are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant to take up a long term position supporting autism within their ASC unit.

Suitable Candidate Experience:

  • Psychology Graduate - understanding of communication issues and barriers
  • Social Workers and Youth Workers
  • SEN Teaching Assistants with Autism or similar experience
  • Respite Carers
  • School Teaching Assistants

The school have highlighted the need for an extra member of staff to support within the unit. The level of support required would be on a 1:1 basis and you would aim to build rapport with the pupil as well as support academically. The successful applicant for this role will start after the Easter break for the summer term in the first instance with an option of a permanent contract being offered for the right candidate.

The school have stressed the importance of the right candidate having a resilient and positive approach to learning and although no previous experience of working with ASC is needed, the correct attitude is paramount. Personality plays a big part in the role and this will need to come across in your initial meeting with the school.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
