A wonderful modern Secondary School in Croydon have a PMLD (Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties) Resource Provision and are looking for a professional special needs teaching assistant for a long term, full time role to start immediately in the Provision.

About the School:

The school is a purpose built, mixed, community comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 16. It serves the diverse community of Croydon. The student population is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural. It is also a fully inclusive school with students who have profound, severe and multiple learning difficulties. They are taught by a specialist team of teachers and support staff but are fully integrated into the life of the school.

The role:

The school are looking for a male teaching assistant to work 1-1 and with small groups across the provision supporting students who have medical and complex needs, also known as PMLD. The role will require engaging with the SEN pupils in the classroom, swimming lessons on Tuesdays, rowing and school outings. You will be required to assist with their personal care (toileting).

The ideal candidate:

• Carry themselves in a professional manner

• Have a good understanding about safeguarding and working with vulnerable children

• Flexible, adaptable and be able to use own initiative

• Must be comfortable with personal care ( toileting )

• Must be available to start immediately – no notice periods

• Must be able to commit 5 days a week (8:30 – 16:00) and for long term

• Passionate to work with SEN pupils and experience with SEN or working with children is beneficial but not essential
