SEN Teaching Assistants - Complex Needs/PMLD/ASD/SLD

The school is a mixed special school with over 380 pupils aged between 3 and 19. They cater for students with profound and severe needs together with children experiencing moderate and complex learning needs arising out of a combination of needs in addition to cognition and learning. Pupils have one or more additional special needs including speech and language; social, emotional and behaviour difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders in addition to their cognition difficulties.

Ideal candidates will have:

• Professional and caring individual

• Have a good understanding about safeguarding and working with vulnerable children

• Flexible, adaptable and be able to use own initiative

• Must be comfortable with personal care (toileting)

• Moving and Handling (incl. Hoists) beneficial but not essential

• Experience working within SEN or working with children is beneficial but not essential

• A good general education including GCSE (or equivalent) at grade C or above in English and Maths

• Experience of complex physical and medical needs is desirable.

• An aspiration to enable students to learn and achieve meaningful independence is essential.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
