SPECIALIST TEACHING ASSISTANTS - WIMBLEDON
Teaching Personnel are working with a specialist provision based in Wimbedon for pupils with Visual and Sensory Impairments. They are looking to recruit new Teaching Assistants to join their existing experienced team of specialist staff.
Start date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Friday during term-time
Pay: D.O.E. (excellent pay rates with opportunity for increase over time)
Location: Wimbledon, SW19
As a Teaching Assistant at this school, you will be working with Deaf Blind and PMLD pupils in primary and/or secondary classes.
A successful applicant will have the following:
- PMLD, SLD and deaf and/or blind experience
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a specialist environment
- BSL (advantageous but not essential)
- Braille (advantageous but not essential)
- Manual handling/use of hoists for pupils with physical needs
- Willing to carry out personal care
- Resilience, dedication and the ability to manage challenging behaviours
The school are also looking for Teaching Assistants for VI secondary pupils with ASD and challenging behaviour. Please get in touch if you have experience with the following:
- SLD pupils with ASD
- De-escalation and conflict resolution
- Non-verbal ASD - PECS, AAC, Makaton
- Willingness to carry out personal care
- Resilience and teamwork
