MAPA Support - Huddersfield

Are you a loyal, dedicated and MAPA trained Support Worker looking for a career change? Do you possess the transferable skills and training required in a Behaviour Support Worker role? Do you want to make a difference to the lives and futures of children and young adults?

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is looking to gain experience in a classroom setting working with disadvantaged students who are at risk of exclusion. These students are aged 5 - 16 years and require tailored support to help them to reengage in learning and reach their targets.

The role is full time and has the potential to lead to a permanent position, dependent on the success of the applicant within that role. Our client offers a nurturing, safe and non-judgemental space for children who display challenging behaviour. These pupils might be LAC (Looked After Children) or from a disadvantaged background so we need someone who is empathetic and passionate about having a positive affect and contribution to their education and lives. The school is based in Scisset and is a specialist provision for students that have been excluded from mainstream education. It offers support in academic and vocational subjects, identifying the strengths of the students and working with them to help them to become independent and employable.

Teaching Personnel have been providing supply staff since 1996 to secondary, primary and SEN schools throughout England and Wales since 1996. Our Leeds Bradford Secondary office specifically work with secondary schools across West Yorkshire, we have been securing casual supply work and temporary placements for graduates, aspiring teachers and future Education professionals with great success for over 10 years.

The ideal candidate MUST hold the MAPA, Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation qualification and if not, be willing to undergo training to get this. Experience as an Inclusion Support Worker, Teaching Assistant or Behaviour Support Worker would be ideal but not necessary.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
* Previous or transferable experience with young people in PRU based settings
* Calm and approachable manor
* Able to deescalate and defuse high tension situations
* Team Teach Trained (we are able to provide this to those without)
