Makaton & PECS Trained Educators – Full-Time Role

Location: Various Primary Schools
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Term Time)
Start Date: Immediate

Are you passionate about supporting children with communication needs and helping them thrive in education? We are seeking experienced educators trained in Makaton and/or PECS to work with pupils who require additional support with speech, language, and communication.

What we’re looking for:

  • Makaton and/or PECS Training: Ability to implement communication strategies effectively.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Active awareness and proactive implementation of safeguarding practices.
  • Experience & Qualifications: Previous experience in education or relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, SEN training).
  • Availability: Full-time, during standard school hours (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM).
  • Commitment: A caring, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting vulnerable learners.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group support using Makaton and/or PECS.
  • Assisting pupils with communication challenges to engage in learning.
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and speech and language teams.
  • Maintaining accurate records and monitoring progress.
  • Proactively safeguarding all pupils and promoting a safe, inclusive school culture.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
