Job description

Sports Coach 
Location: Blackburn
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–3:20pm | Friday 8:00am–2:30pm
Pay: £13.75–£14.50 per hour (dependent on experience)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Sports Coach to work within a Year 10 Alternative Provision setting in Blackburn. This role combines education support with a strong element of sport and physical activity, using sport as a tool to engage, motivate, and support young people with SEMH needs.

This is an ideal opportunity for a sports coach who is passionate about making a positive impact and confident working with students who may display challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and support structured sports and physical activities

  • Use sport as a positive engagement and behaviour management tool

  • Support students within the classroom and during practical sessions

  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and positive behaviour

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students

  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working as a sports coach or in a similar role

  • Strong behaviour management skills (essential)

  • Confidence working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour

  • Calm, consistent, and resilient approach

  • Ability to engage and motivate disengaged learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
