SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Blackburn
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–3:20pm | Friday 8:00am–2:30pm
Pay: £13.75–£14.50 per hour (dependent on experience)
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a Year 10 class within an Alternative Provision setting in Blackburn.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and who can confidently manage challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent, and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to Year 10 students

Implement strong behaviour management strategies
-
Support students with engagement, emotional regulation, and learning

Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams

Act as a positive role model and build trusting relationships with learners
Essential Requirements:
-
Proven experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour
-
Strong behaviour management skills (essential)

Resilience, patience, and a calm approach under pressure
-
Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
