Lewisham SEN School needs a Teaching Assistant

A Behaviour School in Lewisham is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant for immediate start.

The right candidate will be an experienced Teaching Assistant that has supported classes of mixed special needs. The school deals with pupils that are of a vulnerable and sometimes challenging nature, therefore the role can be very challenging. You will work closely with the teacher and other Teaching Assistants to encourage and motivate the pupils and help them to overcome any learning barriers, therefore strong communication skills are a must.

To be put forward for this position you will be required to have the following:

  • A positive, encouraging attitude, with a naturally caring and supportive nature.
  • Experience working with children with SEN.
  • Immediate, full time, availability.
  • A DBS on the updated service, or be willing to complete one asap.
  • Have completed training relevant to this position (first aid, moving and handling, safeguarding, Makaton, PECS is desirable but not essential).
  • Can provide excellent references from previous employment.

Performing well in this role offers the possibility of securing a permanent position with the school.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
