Learning Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN & SEMH Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools, providing support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. This full-time role is ideal for a caring and patient individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on children's lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to students with SEN and SEMH needs, both 1:1 and in small groups.

• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.

• Implement behaviour support strategies in line with the school’s policies.

• Support pupils’ emotional well-being and help build their confidence and self-esteem.

• Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.

• Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour.

• Support with personal care where necessary (depending on setting).

Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs (essential).

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

• Team player with a proactive attitude.

• Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or child development are desirable but not essential.

• Valid DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel.

• Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
