Pupil Support Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate Pupil Support Assistants to join specialist SEMH and SEN schools across Wigan. These schools cater for pupils aged 5–16 with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and SEN needs.
- Assist with classroom activities and help pupils access the curriculum.
- Support pupils in developing positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams.
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH (in education, care, youth work, or similar settings).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).
- Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
