A fantastic behaviour school, recognised by Ofsted for its incredible work with SEN pupils, is seeking an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to work with its pupils.

The right candidate has experience in working with SEN pupils, particularly those with ASD, SEMH and challenging behaviour, who struggle in mainstream education. The role includes planning for the transition days/induction of new pupils to the behaviour school to ensure a smooth transition and maintaining progress reports on the pupils.

Experience in youth work, volunteering with schools, provisions or charities that support SEN pupils is essential.

The student has an Education, Health and Care Plan. Due to the student often missing education as a result of his previous behaviour and specific learning difficulties, he has low levels of prior attainment as well as low levels of self-confidence and self-esteem.

By focusing on the child's academic, social and emotional well being, you will be part of improving his life chances and provide the necessary guidance and support to allow him to follow appropriate pathways into further education and future employment.

To be considered for the role you must:

  • Have a Child Work Force DBS registered on the Update Service
  • School based experience working with SEN pupils
  • Be very proactive - and actively involved in the child's learning at all times

The school offers specialist mixed provision for children with ASD and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is specifically for 7-13 year olds (Key Stages 2&3). The focus here is on developing core skills of literacy and numeracy, whilst offering a broad range of other curriculum areas to provide real interest for the students.

The school has a strong and effective partnership with parents to provide the necessary support for every student, as they believe the education of our young people is a shared responsibility.

The school is seeking a highly committed, specialist member of staff that has extremely high expectations, ensuring every student can achieve their potential.

This position is for 8:20am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

You must be available to work immediately as trials are taking place from Monday the 26th November.

To apply for this position, please include in your application an updated CV and a brief description of your experience in Makaton and working with children. Alternatively, please call 02075933070 to speak to a consultant, quoting 'Learning Support, South'.

*Please note, due to the high volume of applications, only the most successful candidates will be contacted.

If you think you are the right person for the position, please apply below. Alternatively, call 02075933070 to be considered for the position.
