Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant
Locations: Bristol, Bath, and Gloucestershire
Key Stages: 1 – 4
Pay: £89 - £100 per day

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting the next group of Teaching Assistants to support classes of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), which may include mental health challenges, physical disabilities, and emotional or behavioural difficulties. An empathetic and understanding personality is a key requirement for this role. You will work with students aged 5–16 and play a critical part in their academic journey.


Position Details

  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Work available in: Bristol, Bath, and Gloucestershire
  • Hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm (may vary depending on the school)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, term time only
  • Opportunities to transition to a permanent contract with the school for the right candidate

What You’ll Do

  • Support students with SEN, either in small groups or one-to-one, depending on each student’s specific needs
  • Work closely with other Teaching Assistants to support student learning and development
  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering the school's tailored curriculum, ensuring students stay engaged and involved with lesson content
  • Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Build trusting relationships with students, helping them feel safe and perform at their academic best
  • Assist with learning activities and classwork, providing support as needed

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience with SEN or challenging behaviour (either professional or personal) is desirable but not essential
  • Someone with a genuine passion for education, looking to begin or continue their career
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • The ability to adapt your approach to suit different students and their individual needs
