Location: Bristol
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full or Part-time, Term-time only
(Monday to Friday, 8/8:30am – 3/3:30pm)
Contract: Temporary with potential for permanent placement

We are recruiting Unqualified Learning Behaviour Mentors to join secondary and SEN schools across the Bristol area, supporting students who experience SEMH, Autism, ADHD, communication needs and behavioural challenges.
This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate, calm under pressure, and motivated to help young people overcome barriers to learning.
If you have experience in youth work, care, mentoring, sports coaching, classroom support, or supporting vulnerable young people - your skills are extremely valuable and directly transferable.
Key Responsibilities (Learning & Behaviour Support Duties)
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for students with behaviour, emotional and learning needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships that help students re‑engage with education
- Support students with emotional regulation, anxiety, low mood and social difficulties
- Use calm, consistent strategies to promote positive behaviour and resilience
- Help pupils stay focused in lessons, access the curriculum and build independence
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, behaviour teams and pastoral leads
- Act as a positive role model, setting clear expectations and offering encouragement
- Create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for students who need stability
Who This Role Suits

- Youth workers, mentors, or pastoral support workers
- Care staff, support workers, or residential childcare practitioners
- Psychology / Criminology / Education graduates
- Sports coaches, music leaders, and activity instructors
- Individuals with experience supporting vulnerable or at‑risk young people
No teaching qualification is required — what matters is empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support children who need a consistent, positive role model.
Essential Skills & Qualities
- A strong interest in student wellbeing, behaviour support or SEN
- Calm, confident and consistent when faced with challenging situations
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Ability to model positive behaviour and encourage student engagement
- Resilience, emotional maturity and the ability to stay patient under pressure
- An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience working in schools, youth services or pastoral roles
- Knowledge of SEMH, Autism, ADHD, trauma‑informed practice or behaviour management
- Experience supporting pupils with low confidence, disengagement or challenging behaviour
- Training such as Team Teach, First Aid, Safeguarding (available through us)
- A driving licence and access to a car (preferred but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
