Salary: MPS / UPS + TLR

Contract type: Full Time

About the Job:

Our special school in Uxbridge are seeking an outstanding Intervention Teacher to teach adapted lessons on a 1:1 and small group basis in the school’s KS3 department. The teaching role is class based with up to 8 SEN pupils all in Key Stage Three with a range of communication, learning and social needs.

Most of the students in class have autism and as a result some students present with anxiety and complex behaviours. Having confidence managing behaviour in the classroom and creating a positive and welcoming environment will be vital.

Successful intervention teachers must be confident adapting the national curriculum and planning for pupils with complex learning needs (EHCPs). Teachers in this school are assisted in class by up to 3 SEN Support Assistants (SSAs) who will assist with delivering learning programmes to students 1:1 or 2:1.

About the special school (Hillingdon):

Our special school based in Uxbridge, Hillingdon provides both educational, residential and respite for children with special needs across Hillingdon. The school has a primary, secondary and post-16 department with a warm and caring environment, where daily life is underpinned by Christian principles.

Ofsted have ranked the school as ‘outstanding’ in 2014 and 2009 gaining praise for pupil progress, outcomes and behaviour. The school adopts a bespoke approach to education, involving parents, governors and the local community to form an educational community that is all-inclusive.

The school in Hillingdon are seeking an Intervention Teacher who is:

  • QTS and/or PGCE qualified
  • Experienced teaching and planning lessons for children with SEN (EHCPs)
  • Confident teaching small classes of children with autism, severe learning and social needs  
  • Available full-time (Monday to Friday 8:30-4pm during school term time)
  • Primary trained teachers preferred but all qualified teachers welcome
  • Ambitious and committed to the very highest standards of student learning
