History Teacher

Due to a restructure within the Humanities department our client secondary school is currently seeking a teacher of History to join their faculty on a full time basis from Easter. This position will initially be until the end of the academic year with the potential to continue in September 2018.

This is a mixed 11-16 academy based in the heart of Oldham, the school is easily accessible via the M60 motorway with a range of public transport links coming from Manchester City Centre.

Based in Oldham, our client school is a large secondary which was newly built recently to serve the local community. There are currently 1200 students on roll, which looks set to increase next year with a larger Year 7 cohort than previous years. The school was previously on separate sites, but merged into a purpose built state of the art site a short time ago, with a focus on teaching and learning in its design to serve the diverse catchment area and allow students to fully access the curriculum. This is a highly improved secondary school with Ofsted rating it as 'good' in leadership and management. The newly appointed head and management have reinstated the importance of high teaching standards, having a positive impact on student's behaviour and attainment.

The incoming History teacher will:

  • Have UK QTS specialising in History or similar subject
  • Have strong subject knowledge and experience teaching up to GCSE
  • Liaise with the Head of Humanities on students performance and progress in the lessons
  • Assess students frequently to ensure they are challenged to reach their expected grades
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills and understand techniques to de-escalate behaviour

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
