Are you a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher seeking a rewarding opportunity? Teaching Personnel is delighted to offer a full-time position for a History Teacher at an Ofsted Good secondary school in Levenshulme. This role commences in September for the full academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance. The salary for this role ranges from £30,000 to £46,525 per annum, in line with PayScale.

Role Overview:

As a History Teacher, you will have the opportunity to immerse students in the rich tapestry of historical events, cultures, and civilizations. You will play a pivotal role in inspiring students to develop critical thinking skills, historical literacy, and a deep understanding of the past.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and informative History lessons that cover a diverse range of historical periods, topics, and themes, catering to the needs and interests of students.

  • Historical Inquiry: Encourage students to question, investigate, and analyze historical sources, evidence, and interpretations, fostering a spirit of curiosity and inquiry.

  • Chronological Understanding: Develop students' understanding of chronology, continuity, and change over time, helping them to make connections between different historical periods and events.

  • Historical Narrative: Guide students in constructing coherent and persuasive historical narratives, exploring the stories and perspectives of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

  • Historical Skills: Teach students essential historical skills, such as source analysis, research techniques, essay writing, and presentation skills, equipping them with the tools to become effective historians.

  • Cross-Curricular Connections: Integrate historical concepts and skills across the curriculum, fostering interdisciplinary connections and helping students to understand the relevance of history in the modern world.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback, and track their development over time, supporting their growth as critical thinkers and historians.

  • Pastoral Support: Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, fostering positive relationships, addressing any academic or personal concerns, and promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in History or related field.

  • Passion for history education and a commitment to inspiring students to become curious, critical, and empathetic citizens.

  • Previous experience teaching History at the secondary level, preferably within a UK school setting.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a willingness to continuously develop and enhance teaching practices.
