Head of Year – September 2025 Start – Pastoral Leadership Opportunity in Basingstoke
Full-Time | Key Stage 3 & 4 | Secondary School Setting
Are you an experienced educator with a passion for student development and wellbeing? Do you have the leadership skills to guide and inspire a year group through their secondary school journey?
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school in Basingstoke, seeking to appoint a Head of Year from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and play a pivotal role in shaping the pastoral care and academic progress of students.
About the Role:
-
Lead the pastoral care and academic progress of a full year group
-
Monitor attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, and progress – ensuring every student is supported to succeed
-
Work closely with teaching staff, SLT, and parents/carers to maintain high standards
-
Foster a positive culture of respect, ambition, and inclusion across the year group
-
Support and contribute to whole-school initiatives and strategic improvement plans
The Ideal Candidate:
-
A qualified teacher (QTS essential) with experience working in a secondary setting
-
Demonstrates a strong pastoral ethos and a proven track record of supporting young people
-
Confident in managing behaviour and leading interventions to promote progress
-
Able to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families
-
A team player with strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
