Job description

Are you a graduate considering a career in special needs teaching? Would you like paid work experience in a special school to help you decide if becoming a special needs teacher is right for you? If the answer is yes, our Future Teachers Programme could be a great option.
We are currently seeking graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in special needs teaching to join our Future Teachers cohort this term.
The programme is designed to help address the teacher shortages across England & Wales by attracting bright graduates who are considering a career in teaching but wish to gain practical experience before enrolling in initial teacher training (ITT).
We are currently working with several SEN schools in the Bradford area who are seeking committed individuals who are interested in working with pupils with Special Educational Needs. Our partner schools cater for both Primary and Secondary aged pupils, with a range of needs including Autism; Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties; Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs; and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.
If you are already considering a career in teaching, this opportunity is for you. We are offering graduates work in schools as part of a Future Teachers Programme. Placements will be between one term and a full academic year and provide a valuable insight into the role of a qualified teacher to help you decide if this is the career for you, before beginning initial teacher training. During the placement you will work full time and receive weekly pay. Pay rates vary depending on location and school.
You can expect to:
- Carry out several classroom/lesson observations to experience varying teaching styles
- Plan a classroom display for a topic
- Plan a lesson for a specific subject or topic
- Judge the learning outcomes of pupils
- Provide small group and one-to-one tuition to help raise pupil attainment
- Support pupils with coursework and project work
- Provide cover supervision
Future Teacher candidates will also receive free access to six online support modules provided by Best Practice Network containing six hours of content aligned to both the Teacher Standards and Early Career Framework. Badges are rewarded for the successful completion of each pack.
Through the 'Future Teachers Programme', successful graduates are placed in special schools for up to a year. Over the course of the placement, graduates will undertake a range of tasks from supporting student learning through one-to-one tuition to planning lessons for a class. Through every new experience, you will be supported by the school's senior leadership team and, if you decide teacher training is your next step, we can give you the information you need to decide which route to qualification is most suitable.
Please contact Rebecca Barham or click the relevant application links. Applicants will be interviewed and vetted by Teaching Personnel in line with their standard procedures for all applicants seeking work in schools.
