A grammar school in Bournemouth are seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic and energetic individual to join a successful, popular and well-resourced department to teach Food Technology up to Key Stage 4.
This is a maternity cover with the option to take on a full-time contract up to either October 2017 or January 2018. Pay is weekly and is negotiated depending on qualifications, skills and experience, but will be from £600 per week.
The school is over-subscribed serving Bournemouth and the surrounding area. The school’s published admission number for Year 7 entry is 150. A number of students join us in Year 12 from other local schools.The school converted to become an academy on 1st September 2011. Shortly afterwards, it was inspected by Ofsted and judged to be “outstanding”.
The Design and Technology department at the schools well established and housed in the newer section of the school. Pupils use excellent facilities to help develop their creativity and practical skills. Their professional standard food room has been the latest addition to the department.
Within Technology all staff are approachable, very professional and support students by providing a stimulating working environment that is both challenging and rewarding. The school seek to appoint an enthusiastic and well qualified teacher to join the Design and Technology department. Applicants should be familiar with the concepts of Assessment for Learning and the use of thinking skills.
A mentor system will ensure that the successful candidate will be well supported during his/her early years in the post. This post is suited equally to an experienced or a newly qualified teacher.
The post is offered as a full time maternity cover for teaching Food Technology but with the ability to offer another subject advantageous.
