The Head Teacher and Director of English within a large Bolton based secondary school are seeking to appoint a passionate English teacher from September 2019 due to an internal promotion within the English department. This exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dedicated team of specialists from September 2019 or earlier and would suit an experienced or newly qualified English teachers.

The secondary school is based in Bolton and is committed to the teaching and learning of pupils at all levels and stages of learning. The school offers an outstanding induction and support programme providing opportunities for professional development.

  • Full-time English teacher required from September 2019 or earlier.
  • Opportunity to work within an Ofsted graded 'Good' secondary school.
  • Applications are welcome from both experienced and newly qualified English teachers.
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS £23, 720 - £39, 406.

The successful English teacher will have a passion for learning, be an outstanding practitioner, and have extensive subject knowledge and strong interpersonal skills. The school is consistently improving at a rapid pace and continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing the opportunities' for the young pupils on roll.

The responsibilities for the English teacher will include;

  • Full planning, preparing and marking responsibilities expected through to GCSE English.
  • Maintain positive behaviour in the classroom using behaviour management strategies to ensure pupils are engaged, in accordance to policies in place at school
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate pupil achievement taking appropriate action.
  • Develop and incorporate pedagogies relevant to the English curriculum to inspire all pupils.
  • Use relevant classroom management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place across the school.

This diverse Bolton secondary school has just over 800 pupils enrolled, aged 11-16 and has continued to develop under the dedicated guidance of its Senior Leadership Team. Each member of staff have contributed towards the success of not only the school but all their pupils, across the subject board, age ranges and abilities.

Located just a few miles from Bolton Hospital, this diverse secondary school, is ideally situated to be accessed via the M61 as well as the surrounding areas; Bury, Preston and Wigan. There are also excellent public transport links readily available with access across Greater Manchester.
