Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for an English Teacher on behalf of our client, a Secondary school in South Gloucestershire. This position is full time and will begin in September 2018.

About this Role:

This role will begin in September 2018 and be for at least the first term. If the successful candidate is available for the whole academic year then there is a possibility you may continue after Christmas.

For this role you will need to be a fully qualified teacher. NQTs are also strongly encouraged to apply.

You should be confident in your ability to teach KS3 and KS4. You will not need to teach A Level.

To be successful for this role you will need to have at least 1 years previous experience in a UK school.

The pay rate for this position is between £110-165 a day dependant on experience. As this is a full time role you will be expected to take on responsibilities of a full time teacher, such as planning and marking lessons - these extra responsibilities will be reflected in your pay.

About the School:

"Standards of behaviour are very high and our excellent student support structure enables us to get to know each individual. " - Head Teacher

The school is located on the outskirts of a medieval market town on the southern edge of the Cotswolds. It is a short drive from the cities of Bath and Bristol and is easily accessible from the M4/M5 motorway network. Exmoor, Dartmoor, South Wales and the Forest of Dean are all within easy reach.

If you are living in South Wales this school would be a very easily accessible school and with the Severn Bridge tolls being removed you will soon not have to pay to return home at the end of the day!

The most recent inspection by Ofsted took place in December 2015. Pupil's 'Behaviour, Personal Development and Welfare' was noted as being 'GOOD'.

  • "Pupils' behaviour and conduct around the school is good."
  • "Pupils are safe and well cared for; they enjoy positive relationships with staff."
  • "The school has a welcoming, inclusive feel and pupils report they are happy in coming to school.

With the standards of behaviour being so high the successful candidate should not be too challenged, however, as with most schools there may be pockets of low level disruption and so good behaviour management is desirable.

The rest of the schoo however, does Require Improvement.

The report highlights the teaching abilities:

  • Teaching does not provide sufficiently high levels of challenge for all pupils which limits the progress they are able to make.
  • Teaching does not provide the deeper thinking skills necessary to prepare pupils for study in the sixth form.

The successful candidate for this role should be aware of this and possess the necessary skills to work on these issues.
