Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated English teacher seeking a new opportunity? Teaching Personnel is delighted to offer a full-time position for an English Teacher at an Ofsted Good and diverse secondary school in Audenshaw. This role commences in September for the full academic year, with the potential for permanency based on performance. The salary for this role is in line with PayScale (£30,000 - £46,525).

Role Overview:

As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in inspiring and motivating students to develop their literacy skills, critical thinking abilities, and appreciation for literature. You will deliver engaging and creative English lessons that cater to the diverse needs and interests of students, fostering a love for reading, writing, and communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across key stages, covering a range of topics including literature, language, and literacy skills, in accordance with the national curriculum and exam board specifications.

  • Literary Exploration: Introduce students to a variety of literary genres, authors, and texts, encouraging them to analyze, interpret, and evaluate literature critically and creatively.

  • Writing Development: Support students in developing their writing skills, including grammar, punctuation, spelling, and stylistic techniques, through structured writing tasks and activities.

  • Reading Engagement: Promote a culture of reading and literacy within the school community, inspiring students to explore and enjoy a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess students' progress through formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback, and track their development over time, supporting their academic growth and achievement.

  • Differentiation and Inclusion: Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students, including those with special educational needs and English as an additional language, ensuring all students have equal access to learning opportunities.

  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Organize and participate in extra-curricular activities related to English, such as literary clubs, creative writing workshops, and drama productions, enriching students' learning experiences beyond the classroom.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in English or related field.

  • Passion for English language, literature, and literacy education, and a commitment to fostering a love for learning among students.

  • Previous experience teaching English at the secondary level, with a proven track record of academic success and student engagement.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of all backgrounds and abilities.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a creative approach to teaching, with the ability to design and deliver engaging and interactive lessons.
