Cover Teacher

I am currently recruiting Cover Teachers for temporary assignments in the Bridlington and Scarborough area. Have you got experience of working with youth? Have you got a strong character? Would you like a job where no two days are the same?

The Cover Teacher’s main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set. However, the role of a Cover Teacher can go further than that and include the following duties: Teaching grammar; Managing behaviour; Discussing and debating texts with pupils and answering questions; Differentiating and allocating extension exercises.

You need to be a strong character for this role, and that’s not just to manage the classroom behaviour but also teacher sniping. It can be a rewarding job and a useful way of getting experience in the classroom for those with teaching ambitions. It is also a great opportunity for qualified teachers who enjoy being in the classroom but like the flexibility of working on supply.

Cover Teachers are often highly qualified and may even have QTS. Many schools specify an honours degree as a minimum educational requirement and like cover supervisors to have experience of working with young people. However, if you hold a honours degree and are willing to undergo some training you do not need a teaching qualification to work as a cover Teacher.

You can expect a rate of pay that reflects your experience.
