Cover Supervisor/ Unqualified Teacher

In order to be a quality Cover Supervisor you need to be a strong character, not just to manage the classroom behaviour but also to build a quick rapport in schools.

Cover supervisors are utilised in local schools to support with teachers' non contact periods as well as unforeseen absences. It can be a rewarding job and a useful way of getting experience in the classroom for those with teaching ambitions. As a temporary role Teaching Personnel pay between £1200-£1400 a month for unqualified cover supervisor work, but may pay more if it is a qualified or experienced teacher performing the role.

Hours

This role can be as flexible as you wish it to be, you get access to an online diary which you can control. So if your after 5 days a week or just fancy fitting in some extra work around your current commitments, we are confident that we can get you the perfect role.

As a Cover Supervisor:

The cover supervisor's main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.

  • You wont need to plan or mark lessons.
  • You don't have to have detailed subject knowledge

Cover supervisors often have a degree in their chosen subject however as a minimum, educational institutes like their CS to be confident in managing 25-30 pupils and experience of working with young people.

The following skills are desirable:

  • Confident working with 11-16 year olds
  • Have a thick skin
  • Behaviour management skills
  • Be diplomatic

Cover supervisors - Every day is different. You may also work within behaviour teams when you are not covering so it's always a busy, diverse day. CS are respected in the schools I work with because teachers need those people that can step in when they are away.
