Computer Science Graduate Teacher Internship

Are you a recent graduate of Computing or Computer Science with aspirations of progressing into a career in teaching in the future?

Teaching Personnel are working alongside our client secondary in Wigan to help in the appointment of a Computing graduate to join a Future Teachers scheme. Future Teachers is a scheme set up to support graduates seeking an introduction into teaching by securing them a Graduate Teaching Assistant position in a secondary school setting and giving them the necessary experience and skillset to successfully join a teacher training programme the following year.

Highlights of position as Graduate Teaching Assistant for Future Teachers;

- Supporting teachers in delivery of your specialist subject

- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, particularly those preparing for upcoming examinations

- Deliver starter and plenary activities of lessons with supervision of teaching staff

- Cover pre-planned lessons in the absence of teaching staff

- Support students with learning difficulties during lessons

Joining the Future Teachers scheme alongside our client secondary would give the incoming Computing Science graduate an excellent introduction into teaching and learning in a secondary school as the day-to-day activies would be centred around aspiring teachers. As the school currently have a direct link set up with a local University in which their own staff are able to progress onto teacher training, there would be a seamless transition for those looking at doing a PGCE in September 2020. The successful Computer Science graduate would be assigned a mentor at the school who would support their development along with regular reviews with a faculty leader to ensure a continued successful placement.

The ideal candidate will have;

-  A degree specialising in Computing/Computer Science or IT

- Aspirations of progressing into a career in teaching in the future

- Previous experience working with young people in some capacity

- The ability to build positive relationships and encourage young people to learn

The school is situated in Ashton-in-Makerfield and has good accessibility via Bryn train station, along with locality to the M62/M6 junction and A580 (East Lancs Rd) for candidates wishing to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
