Behaviour Support Assistant

Role Overview: We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Support Specialist to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and families to address behavioural challenges and promote positive behaviour management strategies. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and inclusive school culture where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in achieving their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students experiencing behavioural difficulties, implementing tailored interventions and strategies to address their needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to develop and implement behaviour support plans, ensuring consistency and alignment with the school's behaviour policy.
- Act as a mentor and role model for students, providing guidance, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to promote pro-social behaviours and self-regulation skills.
- Liaise with parents and external agencies as necessary to coordinate support and interventions for students with complex behavioural needs, ensuring a holistic and coordinated approach to their care and education.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of whole-school initiatives and training programmes aimed at promoting positive behaviour management strategies and creating a supportive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of behaviour incidents, interventions, and progress, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with children and young people, particularly in a behaviour support or similar role within a school setting.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management principles and strategies, including de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Resilience, patience, and empathy in working with students with challenging behaviours, coupled with a proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equity within the school community and championing the rights and dignity of all students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
