We are currently recruiting Children Support Teaching Assistants to work across a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) schools in the Chorley area. We have both full-time long-term positions and flexible day-to-day supply opportunities available from September.
The Role
As a Children Support Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs, helping them to access learning, regulate emotions and achieve their full potential within a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and participation.
- Assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and supporting emotional regulation.
- Promoting pupils' social, emotional and personal development.
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and external professionals to meet individual pupil needs.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, sports coaching or support work settings.
- A patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and additional needs.
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
