Locations: Chorley & Skelmersdale

About the Role

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and resilient Sports Coaches and Behaviour Specialists to work within a range of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools across Chorley and Skelmersdale.

These roles are ideal for individuals with a background in sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, behaviour support, or alternative provision who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Use sports and physical activities as a tool to engage and motivate students.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage attendance, participation and achievement.
  • Manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Support students both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience and self-confidence.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, sports settings, youth clubs, coaching environments or care settings.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
  • Sports coaching qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable (or willingness to obtain one).
