Behaviour SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant

Locations: Chorley & Skelmersdale
Hours: Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available (Monday to Friday)
Contract: Temporary with Potential for Permanent Placement
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

We are currently recruiting dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Behaviour SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils across a range of primary and secondary schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, and additional learning needs. Successful candidates will play a key role in helping pupils engage with education, develop positive behaviours, and reach their full potential.

The role is available on a temporary basis with opportunities to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviours positively.
  • Assist teachers in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and social development.
  • Support learning both in and outside the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.
