We are currently seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistants to work on a full-time basis across a range of schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale, starting in September.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people who may face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, and achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role

As a Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviour effectively
  • Assist teachers in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Encourage pupil engagement, attendance, and participation in lessons
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and individual support plans
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting confidence, resilience, and independence

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Experience within education, youth work, care, support work, sports coaching, or similar settings is highly desirable
