We are currently recruiting for a number of SEMH Learning Coaches to support pupils across primary and secondary schools in Skelmersdale and Chorley from September.

This rewarding role involves working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as additional Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, develop coping strategies and achieve success both academically and personally.

Whether your background is in education, youth work, support work, residential care, coaching or mentoring, we are keen to hear from individuals who are passionate about supporting young people to reach their full potential.

The Role

As an SEMH Learning Coach, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and trust.
  • Support students both in and out of the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to implement effective support strategies.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment where every student can thrive.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Previous experience within schools, youth work, care, support work, coaching or mentoring is advantageous.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students who may display challenging behaviour.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people's development and wellbeing.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
