Job description

A Specialist Secondary School situated in Tameside are currently looking to recruit multiple Care Assistants who are looking for an opportunity to transition into Teaching Assistants roles. These particular positions are commencing in October 2018 and the Head Teacher is looking to meet with potential Teaching Assistants as soon as possible, so if you are seeking an exciting new role and feel that you have the appropriate skills and expertise please apply ASAP.

This particular Setting is a Secondary Special School which is based in Dukinfield, Tameside. The Setting caters for pupils with a wide range of needs including: Profound Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and significant interaction or communication difficulties. In its most recent 2016 inspection the School was graded as Outstanding by OFSTED. Due to the specific needs of the pupils the Teaching Assistant should have an understanding of how to cater for young people with various needs.

This particular role will involve working directly with pupils who have PMLD so applications from individuals who have experience of: operating a hoist, training in moving and handling and significant experience working with children or adults who have PMLD would be favourable.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience working with individuals with SEN in any capacity
  • Experience working within a Care or Residential Sector
  • Experience working within a School environment (desirable)
  • Moving and handling training and experience operating a hoist (desirable)
