Care Assistant - Greenford

A primary school in Greenford, Ealing are looking to appoint care assistants to work in a small reception class within the schools complex needs department. Due to the range and complexity of needs of the pupils within this department they are looking for staff able to work a minimum of 3 days (Monday to Friday) from 8:30am to 4:00pm.

Complex Needs assistants support pupils within the class promoting engagement and communication through using eye contact, sensory resources and symbols. With 3 trained special needs teaching assistants along with a qualified SEN teacher you will have the skills and pupil knowledge in class to provide effective support.

The needs within the complex department are mixed with medical conditions including charge syndrome, cerebral palsy and heart difficulties. Each class has 6 to 8 pupils with short activities in class to promote learning through sensory play on topics such as colour, choice and their surroundings

All pupils require interaction and support with daily care skills including moving and handling, hoisting, personal care and feeding or tube feeding.

Key Skills

• Availability minimum of 3 weekdays 8:30am to 4:00pm
• Moving and Handling or Hoisting training is ideal
• Open to Personal care support
• Confident in child interaction and play skills
• Open to development through on-job and additional training
