Behaviour Teaching Assistant - Huddersfield
Teaching Personnel are seeking a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to work within a special school in Huddersfield.
Our client is designated for 83 pupils whom have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs as identified by their Education Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans).The school caters for key stages 2, 3 and 4 with class sizes of between 8 and 12 pupils.
Staff in school are skilled in working with pupils who have a range of difficulties that prevent them from accessing their learning; tailoring individual programmes designed to help each pupil develop the skills and behaviours necessary to cope with life in school and beyond school in society, college and the workplace.
As a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work with individual or small groups of young people to deliver targeted intervention and support to access the curriculum, alongside identifying specific needs and developing and implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour, peer interaction and develop an ethos of mutual respect.
Key responsibilities:
- To devise, implement and evaluate specialized programmes of work to encourage and promote a pupil's social emotional and behavioural development
- To work with teaching staff and/or other support staff in devising and implementing individual learning plans to promote pupils' academic, social, emotional and behavioural development
- To organise and run extracurricular activities during lunch and out of school activities
- Help students to manage and resolve conflict by using and teaching them a variety of strategies
- To observe and monitor pupil progress, adapting an agreed approach to meet particular needs, recording and maintaining records of pupils' development and progress.
We are seeking an individual who is committed to providing outstanding support for young people with complex SEMH needs and who is available on a full-time basis during term time over the academic year. You will have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to relate and communicate effectively with children, staff and parents.
