Behaviour Support Worker (PRU) Bradford

A Bradford based Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) are looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Worker on a full time basis this term.

The school is situated in the Wibsey area of Bradford and provides alternative provision for 11-16 olds with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. The curriculum focuses on vocational subjects such as Construction, Health and Social Care, and Animal Care alongside core subject lessons in Maths and English. Pupils have been unable to progress within mainstream environments and benefit from an distinct approach, taking their holistic needs into account.

The successful applicant will work closely with colleagues to provide an effective, caring and understanding environment where young people can overcome disadvantage and lack of provision to achieve their full potential through the delivery of relevant education, training and leisure opportunities.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be patient with a great deal of resilience in order to provide reliable support to young people in times of crisis. You will have a strong commitment to young people and a sound understanding of the factors affecting their lives. In addition, you will have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with pupils, a large staff team, multi-agency professionals and parents/carers.

You must be available for a minimum of 3 days during term time, able to deal effectively with challenging behaviour and committed to meeting the Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs of young people as well as supporting access to learning.

In addition to experienced Teaching Assistants, we would also like to hear from you if you have a background in:

  • Youth Work
  • Social Work
  • Play Work or Play therapy
  • Counselling
