Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant - Rochdale

This Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant opportunity has emerged within this schools support department due to an increase in pupil enrolment. The Headteacher of this high achieving Rochdale based secondary school hopes to appoint a teaching assistant with previous experience supporting pupils who struggle to engage and sometimes display challenging behaviour.

Working in partnership with the SEN Coordinator, the successful applicant will be required to support pupils (aged 11-16) learning and development, ensuring they engage within classes and act as a role model to those who require additional guidance in order to reach their full potential.

As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant you will spend time delivering small group and individual sessions to pupils within the school inclusion unit, as well as support the transition back into full classes. This is a rewarding role where no day will be the same and you will have the opportunity to support in all curriculum and subject areas.

The school wish to appoint a Behaviour Support Assistant who meet the below criteria;

  • Must have worked within secondary education/have transferable skills related to supporting pupils aged 11-16
  • Be confident and able to adapt to support pupils within all subject areas
  • Be able to build positive working relationships with pupils who display challenging behaviour and help them engage within lessons.
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs is advantageous but not essential

Located on the outskirts of Middleton, this school has consistently improved its results due to strong direction from experience and supportive heads of department. Located just minutes from the M62 the school is easily accessible from the surrounding areas; Manchester, Oldham, Bury; Bolton, Wigan and Huddersfield.
