Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with an SEND School in Middlesbrough to recruit a full time Behaviour Support Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) which mean they require extra support that our client school is able to provide.

The role will commence on a full time basis commencing after February half term continuing through until the end of the academic year.

You will be working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a small provision specifically for students with SEMH, the children may display, for example challenging behaviours or suffer with anxiety. The successful candidate will be calm, patient and nurturing and have a passion for improving the lives of young students. You may benefit from experience working with students with SEND; backgrounds in social/youth work, military, education and graduates are encouraged to apply.

The school has on site counsellors and occupational therapists who the successful candidate will work in collaboration with to follow students EHCP and monitor their progress. The candidate will be responsible for carrying out support interventions and taking part in the schools small class lessons for life skills as well as the national curriculum as some students will be aiming towards achieving GCSE qualifications. The school has a high emphasis on preparing students for further education, training and employment so the candidate will be enthusiastic about supporting students within this area. The role will also involve supporting students during school trips into the community.
