Behaviour Specialist
Job description
We are working closely with several SEN and SEMH provisions across the Wigan Borough who are looking for a Behaviour Specialist to join their team. This full-time role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of pupils with complex behavioural, emotional, or mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver targeted behaviour support to pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis

De-escalate challenging situations and implement positive behaviour strategies
-
Work in partnership with SENCOs, class teachers, and pastoral staff
-
Support students with SEMH and behavioural needs to engage in learning
-
Help develop and maintain Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs)
-
Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and structured school environment
We're Looking For Someone Who:
-
Has previous experience working with pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour (in education, youth work, care, or similar settings)
-
Can remain calm, consistent, and professional in high-pressure situations
-
Understands trauma-informed and restorative behaviour approaches
-
Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Holds relevant qualifications/training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, de-escalation training) – preferred but not essential
-
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
