Job description

Are you a Psychology graduate passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives? Teaching Personnel is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join SEN and SEMH provisions supporting children and young adults with a variety of special educational needs.

This role is perfect for someone with a background in psychology who wants hands-on experience working directly with students facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, as well as other learning needs. You’ll work alongside experienced staff to support students’ development, wellbeing, and academic progress.

About the Role:

Support students with SEN and SEMH needs through one-to-one and group activities

Help implement individual learning and behaviour support plans

Assist in promoting positive mental health, emotional regulation, and social skills

Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide holistic support

Observe and report on student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing

Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What We’re Looking For:

Degree in Psychology or related field

Experience or interest in SEN/SEMH settings (formal or informal)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Empathy, patience, and a calm, resilient approach

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality principles

Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of diverse learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
