Pastoral Worker
Job description
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Worker to join our team and provide social, emotional and behavioural support to students across SEN and SEMH settings in the Wigan Borough. This is a full-time position, ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive role and is committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Role Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs

Build trusting relationships to support emotional wellbeing and behaviour management
-
Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
-
Support the development and implementation of behaviour plans and pastoral care strategies
-
Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
-
Monitor progress and contribute to pupil support reviews
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
-
A nurturing, resilient and patient approach
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
The ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
-
Relevant qualifications or training (e.g., Team Teach, mental health awareness, youth work) – desirable but not essential

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
