A Specialist Education Provision in Tameside requires a number of experienced SEN Teaching Assistants for immediate start. The school caters for pupils aged 11-19 who have a wide range of complex Special Educational Needs including SLD, PMLD, and ASC and social and communication difficulties.
The school aims to prepare pupils to have the richest life experiences possible- both in the wider world here and now, and, as they grow into teenagers and onwards to become young adults. The successful candidates will start on a temporary basis with the potential of becoming permanent.
It is essential for candidates to have -
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above, or level 2 equivalent in literacy and numeracy
• Previous experience in a teaching assistant or care environment
• Extensive knowledge, skills and experience to work effectively with pupils experiencing complex learning needs and autism
• A good understanding of how to motivate and engage pupils so they learn very effectively and make significant progress
• Previous experience delivering personal care
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
It is desirable for candidates to -
• be Team-Teach trained
• have experience working with Plevels
• have experience using alternative communication aids (e.g. PECS/ BSL)
Teaching Personnel offer an excellent range of CPD courses including Team-Teach, Autism Awareness and Read, Write, Inc. Phonics.
