ALN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Location: Treorchy
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, until July 2026 (with potential for permanent placement)
Pay: From £13.75 per hour (paid weekly via PAYE)

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional learning needs (ALN)? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a dedicated and caring ALN Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming secondary school in the Treorchy area.

You will be supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and more. This is a rewarding, full-time position, running for the full academic year. For the right candidate, there is the possibility of a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored academic and emotional support to pupils with ALN

• Support individual students or small groups in lessons across the curriculum

• Assist with learning activities, behaviour support, and social development

• Collaborate closely with the ALN department and wider school staff

• Follow individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt your approach accordingly

• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

• A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to supporting young people

• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS certificate (or willing to apply)

• EWC registration (Teaching Personnel can assist with this)

• A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including core subjects (or equivalent)

• A genuine interest in supporting students with additional needs
