Welsh-Speaking Behaviour Support Worker – Secondary | Full-Time

Location: Tonypandy, CF40
Daily Pay: £89.38 (£13.75 per hour) – paid weekly

A vibrant Welsh-medium secondary school in Tonypandy is looking for a Behaviour Support Worker to join their team and support students who need help managing behaviour, emotions, or engagement in school life.

Your Role as a Behaviour Support Worker:

You'll work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to offer tailored support to pupils who face behavioural and emotional challenges. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups to develop emotional regulation and motivation
  • De-escalating incidents calmly and professionally
  • Delivering personalised behaviour interventions and mentoring
  • Logging behaviour incidents and assisting with support plans
  • Promoting positive attitudes and helping students re-engage with learning

Who We’re Looking For:

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Is fluent in Welsh (spoken and written)
  • Is confident, calm, and empathetic under pressure
  • Has strong communication and de-escalation skills
  • Has experience working with young people in roles like youth work, care, mentoring, or coaching
  • Understands the social and emotional challenges faced by students
  • Is passionate about helping learners grow both emotionally and academically

Previous school experience is not essential – transferable skills are highly valued.


What You’ll Need:

To work in this role, you’ll need (or be happy to work towards):

  • EWC registration (School Learning Support Worker category)
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
  • Two references from recent roles
