1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant - Wavertree
Job description
Year 4 – 1:1 Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
Hourly Rate: £14.25 – £15.00
Start Date: September 2026
Year Group: Year 4
Role: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Contract Type: Full-time
Are You Ready for a Rewarding New Challenge?
Are you looking for a fulfilling and varied role where every day is different?
Do you have experience supporting children or adults with complex needs or behavioural challenges?
If so, we would love to hear from you.
The Role
A thriving and oversubscribed primary school in the Toxteth/Wavertree area is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
The pupil requires a high level of support for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with a particular focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and senior leaders, you will help implement tailored strategies to support the pupil both within the classroom and in alternative learning environments across the school. On occasion, you may also be asked to provide support to other pupils with additional needs.
Strong collaboration will be essential in identifying barriers to learning, monitoring progress, and supporting the pupil’s academic, social and emotional development.
While previous experience working on a 1:1 basis with a child who has an EHCP would be advantageous, applications are welcomed from candidates with relevant experience supporting children or adults with complex needs.
The School
Located in the well-connected area of Wavertree, this welcoming primary school is rooted in strong Christian values and is committed to making a positive difference within its community. The school is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and offers a rich, engaging curriculum alongside a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including wellbeing initiatives and after‑school clubs.
The school prides itself on its inclusive and nurturing ethos, encouraging both pupils and staff to thrive. As a larger-than-average primary school, it offers excellent opportunities for professional development and long-term career progression.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
