Learning Support Assistant (Full Time) – Liverpool

A dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant is required to join an alternative education setting in Liverpool, supporting students aged 11–16 who may have faced challenges in mainstream education. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping young people re‑engage with learning, develop confidence, and make positive progress both academically and personally.

About the Role

The Learning Support Assistant will work closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral team to provide tailored support to students with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs. The role involves assisting in lessons, offering one‑to‑one or small‑group support, and helping maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting students across a variety of subjects in both one‑to‑one and group settings
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Assisting students with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
  • Helping to deliver differentiated learning activities
  • Encouraging engagement, attendance, and positive behaviour
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies
  • Contributing to a safe, calm, and nurturing school environment

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, or community roles
  • A calm, patient, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • The ability to de‑escalate challenging situations effectively
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

Contract Details

  • Full Time
  • Long‑term role with potential for permanent placement
  • Immediate start available

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
