Youth Worker /Teaching assistant - Hackney

Role: Youth Worker/ Teaching Assistant delivering group and 1:1 support with behavioural needs

Location: Hackney

Pay: ÂŁ70- ÂŁ85 daily rate- PAYE - No hidden fees

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a youth worker teaching assistant to provide support for pupils with behavioural and complex emotional needs. The specialist pupil referral unit use a therapeutic approach to meet the individual needs of each young person to help them reach their full potential with a vocational curriculum that caters to academic, social and life skills.

This will be a full time post until the end of the academic year supporting across secondary classes, delivering both 1:1 and small group support. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible individual who has an understanding of how to support children with challenging behaviours and holds previous experience with pupils from challenging backgrounds. Team teach training is highly desired but not essential as training is provided on site. This will be working in a 'Good' Ofsted rated school, with a supportive senior leadership team who have a clear vision for their pupils and support staff development with ongoing training and internal progression opportunities. The school value people that are committed to the school and pupils so dependant upon performance the school will be looking to offer a permanent contract to the successful individual.

Youth worker teaching assistant specification:

  • Previous experience working with children or adults or adults with complex behaviour needs
  • Able to interact well with pupils and build trust and rapport with young people
  • Can provide 1:1 support that is suited to individual student's educational needs
  • Able to motivate and inspire young people in their education
  • Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.30pm during term time
